Let’s Go to the Ex!

The Ontario March of Dimes organized a trip to the CNE today.  They got a hold of the provincial bus which holds up to 8 wheelchair passengers.  After loading up, and a safe trip, we pulled in around 3:30 PM.  A fun time was had by all which included myself and buddies Paulo & Trish.  Thank goodness the weather improved as the day went on.  Made it back home around 11 p.m. and was definitely ready for beddie-bye.  Oh, to be 19 again!

Pink Floyd; here I come.

Another Pink Floyd memorabilia concert coming up.  This one is on October 21st at the Opera House in Toronto.  Other than having to go to Toronto, this should be a fantastic night.  Going with brother Joseph and his lady Katharine, my good friend Michelle and cousin John.  Probably we’ll do dinner before the show.  Not only dinner, but I may have to use some of my "medicinal, government approved antispasm medication" before the show.  Poor me!

Lord of the Rings-almost.

Filed under: Lord of the Rings

I had really made plans to go see the musical version of "the Lord of the Rings", which has been playing in Toronto.  I am such a huge fan of the book and the movies, I thought it would be a nice night out.  Well, as you may have heard, the show has been doing so badly that it extended run will be ending soon.  Months and months before it was supposed to.  Oh well, at least I’m saving about $100.

Monarch Butterflies On the March

The Hamilton Spectator stole my thunder a bit with their article in today’s paper but, have you seen all the Monarch Butterflies flying in our skies the past few days?  They are on their way to Mexico; a migratory trip they take part in every year.  You do see Monarchs every year around late late July, early August for about a month or so on their journey.  On Saturday, one of the trees in our parking lot must have had 30 or 40 butterflies in it.  A beautiful sight!  And why aren’t all the birds feasting on these butterflies?  For those of you who paid attention in science class (or when National Geographic was on), Monarch Butterflies taste so bad that birds avoid them like the plague.

Poker Update

Those of you who read this site religiously (there must be 1 or 2!)  will remember that the last time me and the boys got together to play cards, I was thoroughly spanked.  Lost $180.  My worst showing in years.  Well, we played again last night.  I couldn’t believe my bad luck.  After a few hours I was down $80.  Doesn’t sound like very much until you remember we don’t play for big stakes.  Then, my phone rang.  It was the lovely Michelle, my Jewish princess.  After explaining my situation regarding the terrible luck I was having, Michelle gave me a Jewish version of "good luck" and blew me a good luck telephone kiss.  Can you see where this is headed?  As soon as I got back to the table, boom, I won a big hand.  When we called it quits for the night, I was up $50.  Thank you Michelle.
Next time I see you, Tim Horton’s is on me.  Hey, they don’t call me Mr. Big Spender for nothing!

Thief Update

Well, there was another court date yesterday where the thief was actually present (she brought her mother-I guess for psychological support).  By the way, the thief was wearing her powder blue tracksuit which was 2 sizes too small and straight off the "Giant Tiger" shelves.  Nothing much happened; remanded to September 15th.  If you want a cheap laugh, why don’t you attend?  Hamilton Courthouse (55 King St E.), room 100 at 9 a.m..  See you there!

A Chance for Redemption

The boys are coming over for poker this Friday.  This will be our first game since they took me to the cleaners.  Hopefully I can recoup some of my losses.

This one was embarrassing.  If they could do something wrong, they did!  There’s just no bite to my Tiger Cats.

Port Dalhousie

Many years ago, when I was about 6 or 7 years old, our parents used to take the kids to several amusement parks.  Burlington Beach, Crystal Beach & Port Dalhousie are the ones we often visited.  They are all long gone but a couple of days ago I went with a friend to visit Port Dalhousie.  I remember the merry-go-round from so many years ago and, guess what?  It’s still there!  And the rides are still five cents each!  Talk about bringing back memories.  Port Dalhousie has become quite the place to visit and have a drink at.  Beautiful patio cafés along the beach.  Sort of puts Port Dover to shame.
