Toronto-4 Montréal-1

What can I say?  Mon Dieu!  The boys haven’t look that bad for a long time.  Not only was it a lousy game but those Toronto bloodsuckers charged us $30 for parking.  At least we had a good meal before the game; I had some blackened catfish with garlic mashed potatoes.  Delicious!

Another highlight for me was getting on Leafs TV before the game.  I was decked in my Montréal sweater & hat and wheeled by the setup where they were broadcasting.  There were four of them there, including the lovely Jody Vance.  No word of a lie, she caught my eye when I wheeled by and mouthed a "hello".  I responded with a hello of my own and proceeded to tell her she was "looking good".  I swear she blushed!  I then asked her if she could get me on television and she scribbled a note which told me she wasn’t in charge of that.  I left but while brother Joe was relieving himself, I went back to see what would happen.  Jody saw me and waved frantically at the cameraman who proceeded to turn his camera right on me.  Unfortunately, I was taping the game on CBC!

Oh well, at least Jody will have a pleasant memories from that game!

Thief Update-you won’t believe this!

Well, yesterday was the day.  All of us were gathered at the courthouse waiting to see the fate that would befall the thief.  We were told to be there for 9:30 a.m. with the trial scheduled to start at 10 a.m..

At 11:15 a.m. the Crown attorney who was representing my case, called me and all the witnesses into his office.  What happened next defies logic.  First, he spent 15 minutes telling us how he could appreciate the feelings that the thief has generated in the building we live in.  He went on to say that this woman has "quite the track record" when it comes to complaints around theft.  Then, in the same breath, (and get ready for this) he went on to say that he will not be proceeding to trial with this case!  When I asked why he mumbled something about "well, the value of the item that was stolen does not warrant it".

I was stunned.  I couldn’t think of anything to say.  Finally I mumbled something about "it’s the principle" of the thing.  No go, the Crown attorney said he is responsible for using government resources responsibly and going to trial would not be a responsible act.  Stunned, simply stunned!  Instead, the thief had agreed to donate $200 to charity in exchange for not going to trial.

That’s it folks!  I’m still fuming on this one.  When I asked I was told that I could write his supervisor and asked that his decision be overturned.  Come on now, I worked for the government for almost 20 years-I know what good writing to supervisors usually does.  Still, I will send off my letter and think about my next step.  There has to be one somewhere!

Can’t believe January 27th is just over two weeks away.  My Canadiens vs. those dastardly Maple Leafs!

One week to go!  The trial is January 17th and I can’t wait.  Hopefully justice will prevail.  I will, of course, let you know what happens.

Better late than never: Happy New Year!

Well, 2007 is with us.  I hope everyone has a great year.  Although I’m not into making New Year’s resolutions, I hope you are successful in meeting yours!  My New Year’s Eve was very quiet-just Paulo & Trish relaxing & watching some hockey with me.

Again, all the best in the new year!
