Thief Update-you won’t believe this!
Well, yesterday was the day. All of us were gathered at the courthouse waiting to see the fate that would befall the thief. We were told to be there for 9:30 a.m. with the trial scheduled to start at 10 a.m..
At 11:15 a.m. the Crown attorney who was representing my case, called me and all the witnesses into his office. What happened next defies logic. First, he spent 15 minutes telling us how he could appreciate the feelings that the thief has generated in the building we live in. He went on to say that this woman has "quite the track record" when it comes to complaints around theft. Then, in the same breath, (and get ready for this) he went on to say that he will not be proceeding to trial with this case! When I asked why he mumbled something about "well, the value of the item that was stolen does not warrant it".
I was stunned. I couldn’t think of anything to say. Finally I mumbled something about "it’s the principle" of the thing. No go, the Crown attorney said he is responsible for using government resources responsibly and going to trial would not be a responsible act. Stunned, simply stunned! Instead, the thief had agreed to donate $200 to charity in exchange for not going to trial.
That’s it folks! I’m still fuming on this one. When I asked I was told that I could write his supervisor and asked that his decision be overturned. Come on now, I worked for the government for almost 20 years-I know what good writing to supervisors usually does. Still, I will send off my letter and think about my next step. There has to be one somewhere!

That is UNbelievable!!! $200 to charity? What about replacing what she stole?

Well that just SUCKS THE BIG FAT HAIRY ONE!
Court system failed, MOD won’t fire her - I really don’t see any other avenue for you, Tony. Except to get EVERYONE in the building to not allow her into their apartments. Then for sure she would be out of a job because there would be no job for her. But I don’t see how you can do that - there will always be someone who won’t agree. Whatever your next step is - GOOD LUCK with it!!!!!

I can’t believe I’m saying this Tony but I”m in agreement with Teresa! Its pretty obvious that legally you’re at a deadend (and while I’m no lawyer I have watched many episodes of Perry Mason and Matlock). But what if you organized people in your building to not allow her into their units. You also probably spotted the flaw in Teresa’s thinking - you don’t need everyone to agree just a sizeable group. At some point management would have to let her go and hire someone who has no such restrictions. If she can only enter half or less of the apartments as other employees then she is not worth the money and they’ll hire someone else.

YOU DICKHEAD! What do you mean you can’t believe you are agreeing with me? I’ll have you know that I am a most agreeable person! AND my thinking is NOT flawed! Tony has already tried a petition and the theif is already not allowed in many of the apartments. With M.O.D, it apparantly has to be all or nothing!
Tony, mediate here - I am agreeable, am I not?! Uh - nevermind.

Yes Teresa, you are very agreeable. And Charles, you are very dickhead-able. Don’t the two of you realize this is a “blog of love”? Come on now, pucker up!

I just don’t know whats the matter with you people! I spend hours of my time thinking how I can help my friend and this is my reward. Abuse, name calling, its all so hurtful. But no matter, whether appreciated or not I will continue to help friends whenever and wherever I can, yes even you two.
Your humble and helpful friend

The matter with US?????? You DICKHEAD!!!! It is not US who have anything the matter with them, take a look in the mirror. Nevermind, it might break. You know, a stranger might believe that “humble” line, if you were not so SMUG about it!
Tony - Thankyou for such a nice reply. Even though this is a “blog of love”, Do you not think you are going a little too far in
asking me to pucker up for a dickhead?????!!!!!!

Why must I always be the voice of reason. Have I not offered the olive brach time after time extending my hand in friendship to the two of you. My reward, name calling, insults, personal abuse from that dynamite duo “TNT”. I was about to say “no more Mister Nice Guy” but no not yet. I will continue to strive for harmony, peace and friendship for all mankind and womankind. Thats just the way I am.

Quick, where’s my shovel? If this BS gets much higher, I’ll be drowning in a sea of dickhead waste.

Nevermind the shovel, I think we need a back-hoe!
“a sea of dickhead waste”? eeeewwww - that description is not giving me a very good visual at all!

What am I going to do with you people? I give and give and give till it hurts and this is the thanks I get. Try to help my friends and what comes back, shovels, backhoes. If it wasn’t for my decency and class I would tell you two where exactly to put your digging equipment. Now don’t bother me anymore. I’m busy trying to make the world a better place by helping and befriending those appreciative individuals, of which you both are certainly not!!
