Busy Summer Schedules

I love the summer, it’s my favorite time of year.  One drawback however is the difficulty in trying to find dates that are good for everyone regarding getting together.  Just had lunch with my good friend Janet (creator of this blog) and it was so difficult finding a day that was good for both of us.  Same with my friends Liz & Dickhead; we’ve been trying to get together for supper for what seems like an eternity.

I know it’s not just me.  I can’t imagine how difficult it’s going to be to organize a poker game through the summer (although Vicky’s attendance might make that easier!).

Feastolla 9 is just around the corner!

Brother Joseph and his friends are hosting their annual Feastolla get-together on July 21.  This will be nine years in a row!  The link for this annual event is http://www.joeack.com/

Check it out, especially if you are a fan of Led Zeppelin.  That’s all the music they play until about 8 PM when it opens up.  Just bring your own stuff for the barbecue and your own painkiller!  Hope to see you there.

Barbecue at the old house on West 35th

As we do every year, got together with the couple that is renting my house (Owen & Glory) for a barbecue on Saturday.  My old sister in law (Linda), through Teresa, was there too.

The food was great-sausages & hamburgers with some delicious salads.  Linda filled me in on all the family gossip.  Owen & Glory are taking great care of the House-they are fantastic tenants!

Already looking forward to next year.

Tiger Cats Street Party

As some of you may know, the Tiger Cats have moved their offices right across the street from my apartment building.  How convenient!  Yesterday they hosted a street party where everybody got to meet players, coaches & (of utmost importance) the cheerleaders!  A picture on that one will be following soon.

A very good turnout with something for everyone to do.  Sausages & hot dogs were sold with profits going to the United Way.  Hopefully, this will be a yearly event.

Mom Update

Visited dear Mom last Thursday.  We went for our usual walk but she was walking so slowly!  Usually we walk for 45 minutes but this time she wanted to stop after half an hour.  She was in good spirits, maybe tired.  Apparently Dianne & the girls visited yesterday.  I’m sure she enjoyed that!

Hamilton-24 Winnipeg-20

2-0 in the preseason.  Just like last year.  Got to the game Friday night.  Lovely weather to watch football, went with brother Mike.  Brother Joseph came over for a visit and introduced me to his lady’s father-real nice guy!  He’s in visiting from Nova Scotia.

Regular season starts next week-in Calgary.  That will be a tough one.  Go Cats Go!

Haven’t Forgotten Your Birthday Cards

Sister June & Brother Joseph; your birthday cards are sitting on my table.  I know I didn’t get them to you in time but the good doctors at St. Joe’s just kept getting in the way.  Don’t worry, the cards (and their stuffings) will be in your hand soon.  Forgive me!

Trish Has a New Apartment

Filed under: Lesbians In My Life

Finally, Trish bit the bullet and got herself an apartment.  This happened on April 1.  I’m so lucky; her apartment building is about a five-minute walk from my place!  Unfortunately, because of some commitments she has made, Trish has yet to fully move into her place.  She assures me it will be sometime soon.  Better be-I want to go over there for some dinners.  Time to get even!

Mom Update

I felt so guilty-hadn’t seen my mother for 2 weeks!  Visited her yesterday.  She was asleep on her favorite chair when I got there.  Usually Mom gets up right away and we go for our walk throughout the nursing home.  Not yesterday!  She woke up briefly for a couple of minutes, looked at me and grunted her hello, and fell asleep again.  Couldn’t get her up no matter how hard I tried!  Oh well, unlike brother Joseph I didn’t have a bag of goodies to entice her with.  It was still nice to see her though-I’m sure the next time I’m up there we’ll go for our walk.

Stanley Cup

Even though part of me wanted Ottawa to win, way to go Ducks (especially Ryan Getzlaf).  I had him on my hockey team and ended up in second place.  Not only that, I drafted for the Dickhead and he ended up in the money too!  To top it off, I put down some money on Anaheim when a friend was in Las Vegas in January.  Not bad at all!  Should pull in around $200.  Definitely some fun money!
