Montréal Canadiens “Mink” Blanket: Any Furriers Out There?

My lovely ex Tree (better known as Teresa) dropped in a few days ago for a visit.  She gave me a fantastic gift; a Montreal Canadiens blanket that is supposedly made out of mink.  This thing is huge & beautiful!

I showed it to the boys during our poker game.  No one could really say whether or not it was real mink but everyone agreed it was a lovely blanket.  A couple of guys suggested I take it to a furrier to find out if it is real.  The Dickhead mentioned he had 2 uncles that were furriers but they were "no longer with us".  Thanks Dickhead, that really helps me out!

Anyway (and no disrespect to those furriers in the sky), if anyone has any contacts that can help on this one, please let me know.  Regardless, my blanket will have a place of honor in my apartment.  Next time I go to a Toronto/Montréal or Buffalo/Montréal hockey game I’ll have to bring it with me to wave every time my boys score a goal!

Poker with the Boys

Friday was "Poker Night in Hamilton".  We usually have a table of seven players but this time there were only five of us.  Godwin & Joe could not make it-we missed you guys!

Those of you who read my post on our last poker game will remember that when the game was over, there was some conversation about whether or not our betting was getting out of hand.  Some pots were actually stressful to see!  This game however was much more laid-back.  No real big winners or losers (I myself lost $25).

With only five of us the game ended a little earlier than usual (12:30 a.m.).  Poor old Tony C had to leave early.  Too bad; we were having a lot of fun!  I think cousin Jan was the big winner.  Bastard!

Led Zepplica & Lorne’s Picture

The Led Zepplica concert was tremendous.  Played a lot of the classics and did that oh so well.  A bit of a larger crowd then there was last year when I went to see them.  Great weather for wheeling myself there & back.  Hopefully, again next year!

There is a picture of my good buddy Lorne.  The girls just loved him in high school!

My Buddy Lorne

My good friend Lorne dropped in the other night to pick up a CD.  Lorne and I go way back, to high school days.  He’s a lawyer now and lives in Toronto.  Quite a different character!

Worked for the United Nations in Africa for a while after university.  Has seen a lot; good & bad.  An amazing story-it’s true.  When I was about 10 years old I remember my father buying a used movie camera from the classified sections in the Hamilton Spectator.  Years later, when I got to know Lorne I was about 17.  Found out Dad bought that movie camera from Lorne’s father!  Strange but true!!!

Led Zeppelica Tomorrow Night

Going  to Hamilton Place tomorrow night to catch Led Zeppelica with Brother Joseph and a couple of his friends.  Saw them a few years ago and they gave a great show.  I’m sure we are in for another treat.  I’ll let you know all about it!

Cousin Jan Lends a Helping Hand

Cousin Jan, of poker playing fame, dropped in the other day to help out with a few things around the apartment.  The control that adjusts the head of my bed up & down was not working.  Within 20 minutes, and a little bit of soldering, the job was done!

I kept good old Jan busy with a few other little tasks.  Even Paulo & Jeannine found things for him to do.  Thank you Cousin Jan!

A Lovely Visit With Mom

Got a telephone call from Brother Joseph on Monday saying he was going to visit Mom.  Brother Mike, Sister Dianne & the girls were also going to be there.  I definitely wanted to join this group!

Joe arrived to load me up in my van.  He informed me we were picking Mike up and that niece Lauren would be accompanying us.  It was getting better all the time!  We got to Mom’s and brought her down to the Main Floor where we set her up at a table with the delicious treats Joe brought along.  She loves to nibble on fruits, chocolate, cookies & other treats Joe surprises her with.

Within five minutes, Dianne & the girls showed up.  A lovely time was truly had by all (although Nicole did get on Danielle’s nerves!).  I brought my digital so there are some pictures for you to check out.  To top it off, when I got home-leftover turkey for dinner!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Would like to wish all the best to my good friends.  Hope your Thanksgiving was as enjoyable as mine (yes, even you Dickhead!).  Most of the family got together at sister Dianne’s for the traditional feast: Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and various vegetables including corn & a delicious squash conglomeration put together by Dianne.  And the deserts: simply fantastic!  Thank you sister June.

Now it’s time to look forward to Christmas.  Except for the weather, another great festive season.  Between now and then though we have football & hockey to keep us busy.

Again, sincere good wishes to all my friends.  You make my life so much more pleasant!
