Dominican Republic = no, Cuba = no, Puerto Vallarta = yes!

Yes, those Cubans just didn’t want to get back about the accessibility of their showers.  Didn’t want to take any chances so I had Bob find something else.  This is it http://www.riu.com:80/en/hotel-riu-vallarta-mexico.html

Looks very nice and has all the amenities I need for accessibility.  I can even rent a wheelchair accessible van or a special wheelchair/lounger made for the beach!  The only drawback: when we arrived back in Toronto are plane lands around 1 a.m..  Sleepy time!

  1. You’ll love it Tony. Puerto Vallarta is a great place. Liz and I have been twice. Jennifer went with us the second time but as she was still in the fetal position she doesn’t seem to remember much. The old city is great to snoop around and the beaches are beautiful.

  2. It certainly looks beautiful! However, it’s not a definite yet. Found out from someone I have been e-mailing with about a resort on the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico that was built with wheelchair accessibility in mind. As a matter of fact, the owner & his son are both in wheelchairs!

Not only are the rooms accessible but they also provide all the necessary equipment and even have a nurse on staff 24/7. On top of that, they offer tours on land & sea that are also completely accessible! Hopefully I can get a room there. The only drawback-no direct flights; will have to transfer from either Houston or Mexico City. I can handle that though considering the reward at the end!
