A Barbecue at Sister Dianne’s

Dianne invited people over for the first barbecue of the season.  Unfortunately, Brother Mike & Sister June were unavailable.  Brother Joseph, Kathryn & I had all that food to ourselves.  Chicken breasts & hot dogs with several lovely salads.  Thank you Dianne!

Niece Nicole introduced me to the family rabbit-Xander.  As cute as he was I kept telling her he would look much nicer on the barbecue.  Nicole was not pleased!

Tiger Cat Fan Day

The Tiger Cats opened up Ivor Wynne Stadium on Sunday so season-ticket holders could go down to pick them up.  Was able to get on the field and experience kicking a field goal from the 25 yard line.  Players, cheerleaders & coaches were there.  Bumped into some old friends and even took the head coach, Charlie Taaffe, a side to give him some pointers.  That should guarantee a better season than what we had last year!

My High School Reunion

Bishop Ryan High School celebrated it’s 50th anniversary with a reunion over the weekend.  Dropped in on Friday afternoon with Lorne Giacomelli.  Saw so many people from the past; students & teachers.  Some I could recognize right away but most-well, let’s just say it’s a good thing we were wearing name tags.

Sheila Copps was there and we caught up on things.  Chico & Steve, 2 old football teammates.  Miss Wagner, Father Cote & Mr. Curtis-old teachers, Gary & Carol.  So many others.  Check out the pictures!

Kaleb Visits Diego

The other night, Kaleb & his mother went to see Diego rescue Baby Jaguar at Hamilton Place.  While he was there, Kaleb got his picture taken while he was standing with a picture of Diego & all the characters from the show.  Even Diego’s mother & father are in the picture.  Not only that, Kaleb is holding a Diego doll!

It’s quite a picture.  You can see Diego driving a Jeep, surrounded by many of the characters.  Kaleb shared the picture with me.  Check it out!

Happy Birthday Terry

Terry, a good friend of mine who lives in the same building, recently turned 47.  Not only that but an old friend of ours, Julie, recently had her birthday.  Terry has always been a bit of a party organizer.  With that, he invited some of us to get together at Walt’s Restaurant in Jackson Square for lunch.

Along with the three of us there was Paulo & Jeannine, Nelson & Cam.  Good food & good company-always a pleasant combination.  Happy Birthday Terry!

Yo Gabba Gabba Strikes!

Kaleb has been in a very artistic mood lately.  He built a couple of characters from one of his favorite TV shows, Yo Gabba Gabba.  The first one he built was Brobie and and the second one is Foofa.  His ingenious little mind took it a step further-put them in a box and make it look like they were purchased at a store!

We took a picture-check it out!

Trivia Night in Dundas

Got an invitation from Dickhead and his lovely wife Liz to join them in a trivia competition.  It was a fundraiser for a local high school in the Dundas area.  Along with the three of us, we were teamed with Cathy whose husband was on another team.

We started out great and of the 21 teams in the competition, we were battling for third or fourth place in the first few rounds.  Then, the music round!  We scored a big fat 0 in the area of Canadian music.  Dropped us way way down in the standings and we could never fully recover.  While we didn’t end up in last place, we weren’t that far away!

All in all a very fun night with the money being raised going to a good cause.  Our table did extremely well with the door prizes and raffle items.  Liz won one of the major items-a two-person tent.  I managed to win a door prize and ended up collecting a dozen golf balls in a gym bag which my brother Mike will be able to use.  Unfortunately, I left it on the Darts bus when I got home!  Oh well, I’m sure I will get it back and life will go on.

Dinner at Turtle Jack’s

On Saturday night a bunch of the Jarvis Street gang (& friends) went to Turtle Jack’s for dinner.  Something we do every couple of months for a change of pace.  We had a great time and many items from the menu were sampled.  Mixed reviews; don’t think we’ll be going back.  I had the pickerel dinner and was somewhat disappointed with the size of the portion-I guess Port Dover has spoiled me!

Still, the pleasant company more than made up for any shortfalls.  As Trish was not present, Nelson was the official photographer.  Check out the pictures!

Big Hockey Game Tonight

Well, my Montréal Canadiens are down 3-1 to Philadelphia.  Big game in Montréal tonight.  The boys have to find a way to beat that Philadelphia goaltender-he’s hot!  As Brother Joseph pointed out while watching the last game, now I know what it feels like to have a good team getting beaten by a goalie-like Patrick Roy did so many times (and Ken Dryden)!
