Penguins, Pot & Other Stuff

Thanks Cousin Jan!

Anyone who knows me is aware that I have a difficult time handling excessive heat/humidity.  Living at Villa Verdi doesn’t help.  This building holds in the heat just like an oven.  After 1 or 2 slight delays, Cousin Jan came down on Friday morning to help me purchase & install a window air conditioner in my bedroom.  The unit in the living room just couldn’t cool the bedroom down on those hot, muggy days.

Finally, comfort in the bedroom!  Cousin Jan, I know it took a while but thanks for your help.  Now, I just need to make sure that piece of cardboard does its job!  Paulo seems to think it’s just a matter of time before the great outdoors is peeking into my bedroom.

Montréal 33 Hamilton 10

Ouch!  Not a good way to start the season.  So many of the same old mistakes: penalties at bad times & costly turnovers.  Still a long way to go.  I was very disappointed with the turnout for the game: 20,500.  It was a beautiful night, the season opener & on television.  Next it’s the Argos, Thursday in Toronto.

Was talking with Casey Printers, starting quarterback for Hamilton, a few hours before the game.  I offered him some sound of football advice which he passed on.  Hence, the final score! Check out the picture!

Oskee Wee Wee!

The season starts today; Montréal in town to visit Hamilton.  The Tiger Cats had their annual street party the other day.  It’s great having their office right across the street!  Got to meet some players, coaches & cheerleaders.  Not only that, saw Kristin who works for the club.  Her father, Bob-my travel agent, and I go way back.  All the way to high school!

The weather was a challenge and things had to shut down a couple of times because of rain & lightning.  Still, a great time was had by all.  The hamburgers were excellent!  Now we just need to see what the product on the field is going to be like.  Can’t be as bad as last year.  I encourage all of you (including you, Dickhead) to get out there and support the team.

Check out the picture of me, Kristin and some guy trying to make a move on her.

Feastolla X-A Smashing Success!

Brother Joseph’s annual Feastolla took place not very long ago.  Went up with Paulo and a couple of delicious steaks.  Good food, great music and some very nice people.  Feastolla has been going on for 10 years and I’ve been at every one.  The first one was in Mom & Dad’s backyard.  What a mob for that one!

Have a great time Brother Joseph-thanks a bunch!

A Lovely Barbecue at Owen & Glory’s

As most of you know, I still rent out the house I used to live in with the lovely ex Theresa/Tree to Owen  & Glory, a lovely couple.  Every summer they invite me up to the place for a barbecue and a chance to see how their kids Kyle & Darcy are doing.  Both are married now and doing well.  Unfortunately, Darcy wasn’t there but I did talk with her on the telephone.  He had a chance to meet Kyle’s lovely wife Lee-they were just married about one year ago.

Another regular attendee is Lynda, who used to be my sister in law.  She was married to Tree’s brother Wilson.  A really nice lady-likes to drink "Thai Mais"-there’s a story to that!  We all had a great time at the barbecue: pork steaks & chicken breast wrapped in bacon with various salads.  Dessert: strawberry rhubarb pie with ice cream!

Thanks Owen & Glory: everything was fantastic!

Got some great pictures: check them out!

Kaleb’s T-Ball Game

The other night Kaleb had a T-Ball game at Gage Park.  We decided to make a picnic of it.  I picked up a delicious fruit tray while Jeannine went to Denninger’s to get a couple of roast chickens with salad and a few extra goodies.  Then it was off to the game!

Jeannine & Kaleb took the bus and the rest of the entourage met them there.  Along with yours truly, Paulo & Terry joined the march.  After getting there, we met up with Kaleb & his mom and the festivities began.  A lovely meal that took us to game time.  Then, Kaleb showed his stuff.  I must admit-quite funny watching a bunch of 4-5-year-olds playing the game.  Check out the pictures!
