The Aquilina Boys Cleanup at The Malta Day Picnic

On Sunday the Hamilton chapter Of the Maltese Canadian Association held its annual picnic at LaSalle Park in Burlington.  Brother Joseph was kind enough to drive me there along with Paulo.  The lovely Kathryn gave Jeannine & Kaleb a ride and we all met together at the park.  Sister Dianne met us there with Nicole & Danielle and Sister June also joined the festivities.

It was a lovely day and so nice to see some old familiar faces.  Being the oldest Aquilina, it was up to me to make sure everyone knew what was happening with the family.  Mix & mingle-I love it!  There was a barbecue and along with the traditional burgers & dogs, they were also selling Hobz biz-zeit.  That’s a delicious sandwich made with crusty bread, olive oil, various vegetables & tuna.  One of my father’s favorites!

There were races for the kids, a swimming pool and a bocce ball tournament.  Brother Joseph did quite well, getting into the championship game and settling for a very close second.  Yours truly was the big winner with the raffle draw.  Price: a bottle of Italian wine and a gallon of some delicious homemade nectar of the grapes.  Not really being a wine drinker, Brother Joseph & Paulo were the beneficiaries of my windfall.

A great time was had by all.  Check out the pictures!

We was robbed!  A great game; exciting to the finish.  Somehow though, I think the league will be taking a look at its rules around a fumble through the endzone.  Possession?  Contact?  Anyway, back to the game.  After a somewhat listless first half, both teams picked it up tremendously.  Seesaw, back & forth-whoever had the ball last was going to win.

Oh well, the Tiger Cats are still tied for second place.  Calgary this week on Thursday in Cowtown.  Going to be tough!
