Forgot to mention what went on over the holidays. Even with my delicate derrière I was able to enjoy time with the family. Christmas Eve saw me go to Sister Dianne’s for the traditional family get-together & gift exchange. Amazingly enough the lovely Trish agreed to come along. She showed, she’s considered part of the family! Delicious finger food, all the family (except for Nephew Andrew who was home sick with the flu) and of course-that holiday feeling.
One of the gifts I gave my brothers & sisters was a DVD of all the family movies my father took. I inherited the old 8mm & super8mm films when he passed away. Over 35 of them! We played one and it brought back so many memories. All the way back to 1960 up to about early 1972. Relatives in Malta, June & I when we were not even 10 years old. The rest of the brothers and sisters from their infancy to early years. So nice to see! Thanks Dianne for hosting a great get-together. Even Cousin Jan was there with his family. He took some great pictures he promised to send me so I could put them up on the blog. Cousin Jan-consider this a nudge!
Christmas Day saw me at Brother Mike’s for Christmas dinner. His family was there along with Cindy’s mother and father. They brought a longtime neighbor Ruth with them. Ruth was a nurse for many years starting in the early 50s. The stories she had to tell! Dinner was delicious-turkey with all the fixings. Even enough leftovers for me to bring home!
All in all, Christmas this year turned out very nice. For a while, while I was lying in my hospital bed, I thought it was going to be an institutional Christmas for me. Even the doctors were saying at the start of the week that I might not be getting out in time. But the old Quacker showed them what he was made of! Thank goodness, I didn’t want to miss a thing!
