Oh, The Pain!

While going through my archives, I found something that sent a shudder through my body.  It’s a picture of me & Dickhead.  Taken shortly before I passed out.  The cause: Dickhead started whispering sweet nothings in my ear!

Check Out the Picture

A Thank You To the Brave Men & Women of the Canadian Armed Forces

Just saw a news story of 4 more members of the Canadian Armed Forces being killed in Afghanistan.  Every time I hear such a report, I am deeply touched.  Don’t often agree with Don Cherry but, on this one, I find myself holding hands with him.  I am truly saddened for these people and their families & friends.

One of my wishes is to someday show my respect by being a member of the crowd on "The Highway of Heroes" that has become a Canadian tradition.  If anyone out there would like to accompany me someday, please do let me know.  These people truly are heroes!

Trish Finally Gets Her Birthday Dinner

The lovely Trish hit a significant birthday milestone on November 21 of last year.  The big 40!  I promised to take her out to dinner at the restaurant of her choice.  Unfortunately, my well documented health problems (combined with Trish’s busy schedule) delayed our little celebration until this past Monday.  Off to The Keg, Trish’s favorite restaurant (when she’s not paying!).

I ordered the short ribs which came with a lovely 3 mushroom cream sauce, garlic mashed potatoes & fried onion strings.  Of course, also had the house salad.  Trish enjoyed a delicious Keg steak with a baked potato & veggies.  The two of us shared a steamed garlic shrimp in butter sauce appetizer.  Ice tea for both of us.  The meal was fantastic.  I couldn’t handle too much desert so went with the crème brûlée.  Trish chose the brownie sundae.

Happy birthday Trish.  Hope you have many many more!

Food, Glorious Food!

Ever have one of those days where everything just seems to go oh so right?  Well, Sunday was one of those for me.  Brother Joseph came over to pick me up so we could go visit dear Mom.  When he got here, he dropped off 5 or 6 packages of food that the lovely Lady Kathryn had put together for me.  Then, we were off to pick up Brother Mike on the way to visit Mom.  When we got there, Sister Dianne had already made an appearance with the lovely Nicole.  Lo & behold, Sister Dianne presented me with another bag of homemade delights!  Too good to be true.  I thought, that has to be it.  No!

I suddenly remembered that I was going to Owen & Glory’s place (okay, they rent it from me) as they had invited me up for dinner.  And what a feast!  Roast pork, mashed potatoes, veggies & a broccoli salad that I actually liked.  Dessert-homemade blueberry cheesecake!  Throw in some very pleasant company and you can imagine the smile I had on my face.

A quick thank you to Sister Dianne, Lady Kathryn and the Coynes.  It’s so nice to be able to enjoy good food again without worrying about-well, you know what I mean!

Next Star Trek Movie Trailer

Those of you who know me remember that I used to be a big Star Trek fan.  It’s kind of cooled off recently but I still enjoy the show.  Seen every movie so far.  Well, the next one is going to be released in May.  Here is the trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4XXydDEkG0&eurl=http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/tilted-entertainment/103690-star-trek-xi-j-j-abrams-project-2.html&feature=player_embedded

Looks good.  Anyone interested in going to the movies?
