Another Lovely Malta Day!

Today was the annual Malta Day Barbecue which is held at Burlington’s LaSalle Park.  The lovely Trish came over and drove me & her along with Kaleb, Paulo & Jeannine over to the festivities.  When we arrived, Brother Joseph & Lady Kathryn were already there.  I don’t know what I was thinking but I had invited Liz & Dickhead to join us.  Sure enough, 10 minutes later and the whole gang was there.  Wait, Kathryn had invited her sister Ruth who showed up 10 minutes after that.  The gang was all there!

I must say, a great time was had by all.  Perfect weather, great food and good company. It’s nice to see so many of the members of the Maltese community gathered for the day.  I especially like touching base with some of the old-timers from my father’s crowd.  Not many left but there are some. Brother Joseph did really well-he won the bocce tournament and also the big raffle!  I’m telling you, being an Aquilina has its benefits!  Kaleb got some swimming in.  Trish, Liz & Dickhead got to see the sights of Burlington Harbor.  We all had great food.  To top it off, Kaleb & I got to eat some goodies from the traveling ice cream truck!

Some great pictures (thanks Trish).  Check Them Out!

  1. As Brother Tony said, it was a wonderful day at the annual Malta Day picnic. Always enjoy getting together with family and friends. Throw in some good food and beautiful weather, and you have the makings of a perfect day! Winning the bocce tournamnet and the raffle prize was just icing on the cake!

For those who were at the picnic, you might remember that Lady Kathryn declined ice cream from the travelling ice cream truck. If you know Kathryn, you know that does not sound like her. I had a sneaking suspicion she was up to something, and sure enough, I was correct.

After we left LaSalle Park, Kathryn suggested we go to Cold Stone Creamery in Stoney Creek. Being the generous and loving person I am, I obliged her. I had chocolate ice cream with peanut butter mix-in. I would have had a banana mix-in as well, but they were out. It was still delicious!

  2. It was a great day Tony. Thanks for the invite, we’re already looking forward to next year. We are still abuzz over the combination of skill and luck exhibited by Brother Joe. Truly amazing! Still in shock that you actually bought me a burger, if only it was Malta Day every day.
