One Small Step for Man
July 20, 1969-Neil Armstrong becomes the first man to walk on the moon (unless you believe, like some, that the whole moon landing thing was a hoax). I remember where I was when that happened. The family was on vacation near Napanee Ontario. We were staying in a cottage that had no television. Dad drove to visit someone he knew that had a small black & white television with a very fuzzy picture. But there we were! History in the making. Almost as historic an event as when yours truly won the Most Beautiful Baby in Hamilton Contest!

Even though I am much younger than you are, I also remember that day very well. We watched it all on our first colour TV set, which my parents had just bought, but of course the moon walk itself was only in B&W so that was funny…

Also being much, much younger than you (367 days to be exact) that is definitely one of those days you remember. Unbelievably exciting and amazing! Maybe if we start saving we can buy two tickets for space travel. We haven’t travelled together since Vegas. Are there casinos in space? Now theres an idea worth billions. Lets get on that.

Yes Dickhead, younger in so many ways! Space travel? Some of us have already had the pleasure. Casinos in space? I’m sure you will find some in a satellite city somewhere. I’ll ask Neil to get on that right away!

Mark my words, you heard it first here, one day there will be casinos in space making someone billions of dollars. Why not us? We may have to get mobbed up, but between the Jewish mafia and the Maltese mafia it should be doable. Think about it. We hire Paulo, with his charm, as a greeter; Trish can be in charge of the muscle. So many possibilities!

What a coincidence, Tony! I didn’t know you then, but I was also at a cottage near Napanee, watching the moon landing on a little
B & W TV. On Perch Cove, near Hay Bay. Wouldn’t that be something if we were next door to each other 40 years ago?

Yes, that would have been something. Imagine that, I could have met you before Charles!
