Things Are Quiet Lately

Yes, not much happening that would warrant blog mentioning.  Played poker with the boys (minus Dickhead) a while back.  Lost $30.  Went fishing with Brother Mike over a week ago out at Binbrook.  He caught a couple, one of which was really nice: a bass that weighed at least 2.5 pounds.  We will probably be going out again Thursday of this week.

Football (both real & fantasy) is going somewhat better.  I have restructured my fantasy football team which has led to a slow but steady rise in the standings.  All the way up to 8th place for now and that will get me into the playoffs (as long as I don’t slip again).  Actually won $50 on Pro Line last week and that’s the first win this year.  Even the Tiger Cats are doing better.  If they keep winning, the playoffs are guaranteed and there will be a game in Hamilton.  Oskee Wee Wee!

Noticed the other day that David Wilcox is playing at the Hamilton Convention Center on November 27.  I’ve always wanted to see him in concert.  I’ll probably be going.  Is anyone else interested in attending?

  1. I saw David Wilcox at Festival of Friends a couple of years ago. It was a good show but I probably wouldn’t buy tickets to see him again.

Two weeks till the VRS lunch - looking forward to seeing you there!

  2. Liz and I used to see David Wilcox perform 30 years and more ago if you can believe it at The Chooch in Guelph during our university years. It was a great bar that brought in great performers, its too bad its closed down now. Our favourite was Long John Baldry who was also a favourite performer of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. A Canadian woman sang with him and had the greatest rock and roll voice this side of Janis Joplin. Since I won the weekly football pool I’m in a generous mood. So I’m offering $10 to the first person who comes up with her name. If thats too tough then $10 to whoever can name the two performers discovered by Long John in the 1960s who have had incredibly successful careers and still perform today. My money is on either Brother Joe or Cousin Jan, however since the prize is some of my money I cant forget about Tony who will do just about anything to grab my hard earned money. Good luck ladies and gentlemen. I’m rooting for Janet.

  3. I caught a whiff of something in the air that turned out to be the possibility of scooping some $$$. That is sweet enough but to be able to scoop it out of Dickhead’s hand makes it even sweeter. Let’s see now, that female singer. All I can think of is Kathi McDonald but she is not Canadian, she’s from Seattle. The two entertainers he introduced that have gone on to such great careers: Rod Stewart & Elton John. Coincidentally, those are about the only 2 artists that produce music I really don’t like. Except for a song or two, can’t stand their stuff! That could be changing now however if it gets me that $10. I wonder!

  4. You were too quick for me, I was going to post another message concerning Kathi McDonald’s correct heritage. Thought you might know the Elton John and Rod Stewart answer but the Kathi McDonald answer just shows the lengthes to which you will go to get your hands on my money. Honest or not, well done. Now go to youtube and listen to her singing, unbelievably fabulous, she still has it. Maybe one day she’ll perform in Hamilton. Thats a concert I’ll even treat you to!

  5. As a matter of fact, I hired a Private Investigator who dug up the information for me. Cost me $200 but knowing that it was going to cost you $10 made up for it (and if you believe that, I have some land in Florida I can sell you!). And if Kathi McDonald ever makes it to Hamilton, make sure those are front row seats!

  6. Charles, I just saw this now, but I would never have gotten any of those answers anyway. But you are still welcome to give me $10 if it will make you feel better.

  7. Yes Janet, you are quite right. Dickhead should give you $10. He could give it to me the next time I see him (I owe him money so I know it will be soon!). Then, I could pass you the cash the next time you & I have lunch (and I hope that will be soon!). That way, I win on two accounts: Charles has to pay money out of his pocket and I get to have lunch with you!

  8. It is with a heavy heart that I feel the need to write such scathing and critical words about friend Tony. For years his blog has mainly focused on heaping scorn upon me, which for the sake of his blog I have tolerated, or upon how many miniscule fish he has caught not exactly bringing to mind the old man and the sea (except for the old part). Has Tony ever enlivened his blog with prizes, questions and cash to be won. The answer my friends is No! Out the generous goodness of my heart I took it upon myself to jazz up the blog, a breath of fresh air as it were. Did Tony give his faithful readers a chance to win the money and take part in the fun. Again sadly No! The man who wouldn’t know the difference between Kathi McDonald and Old MacDonald was driven by the lust of the dollar signs in his eyes. Janet I wish I could pass the $10 to you but alas as a man of honour today at the Ticat football game I paid Tony. I had pictured happily handing over the $10 to you or Jan or Joe or Herb or Trish, anyone who had earned it honestly. But now I stand before a bitter and disillusioned man.

  9. Of course, I waited the customary 15 minutes before I let my fountain of knowledge bubble all over this one. How sweet! Getting money from Dickhead is a rare event. Now, if the Yankees can keep it up, $10 more!
